ESL (English as a Second Language) refers to learning English in an English-speaking country. EFL (English as a Foreign Language) refers to learning English in a non-English-speaking country.
Achieving native-like fluency is challenging, whether you study English as a second language or as a foreign language. Immersion helps, but it isn’t the only path.
If English is not your mother tongue, you might consider traveling to an English-speaking country. However, if that isn’t possible, you can use online language-exchange communities. One example is the Mixxer language-exchange community.
